Choosing which new SUV you want to drive home in can be hard with so many different options to choose from that all claim to be the best. So, like many other Emmaus drivers, you are taking to the internet to compare a couple of models you have in mind. To help you get to the best part of shopping for a new SUV, the test drive, we have compared several similar SUVs to the Subaru Forester; but the winner shouldn't surprise you.

Three of the top competitors of the Subaru Forester are the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Ford Escape, all of which fall short when it comes to safety, performance, and interior space.

  • Safety: Subaru is well-known among Allentown drivers for build incredibly safe and reliable vehicles and the Forester is once again a Top Safety Pick+ with the highest safety ratings. The Forester also comes standard with the best-rated driver assist package on the road, EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. The RAV4 does come standard with Toyota Safety Sense but does not include Pre-Collision Throttle Management to cut engine power to reduce impact. The Honda CR-V is available with Honda Sensing which means you have to buy a more expensive trim level. Same goes for the Ford Escape, similar safety features to EyeSight are only available for an additional cost. The Forester is also the only SUV in its class to offer a distracted and drowsy driving mitigation system; Subaru DriverFocus.
  • Performance: The Forester is ready for a weekend adventure with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and BOXER engine with Auto Stop-Start Technology to get 33 highway mpg. while generating 182 horsepower. All of the other SUVs are available with less capable all-wheel-drive systems for an extra $1,500. The competition also doesn't offer a similar off-road performance feature to X-Mode with Hill Descent Control. None of the other SUVs are as fuel-efficient as the Forester when equipped with all-wheel-drive.
  • Interior Space: Inside the Subaru Forester is 111.9 cubic feet of luxurious seating for five passengers with 35.5 cubic feet of cargo space. With the 60/40 folding seats, you will have up to 76.1 cubic feet of flexible cargo space to meet your needs. The RAV4 offers significantly less passenger space, 98.9 cubic feet, and less maximum cargo space, 69.8 cubic feet. The Ford Escape is even smaller than the RAV4 with a passenger space of 98.7 cubic feet and only 68 cubic feet of total cargo space.
